Starting August 17th, the new rules of the National Association of Realtors (NAR) will alter the playing field for home buyers and sellers.

One of the most significant changes is listing agents will no longer be required to show commission fees on any MLS listing which means buyers agents can't easily steer their clients to lucrative commissions. Commission fees must be negotiated outside of MLS. Using the MLS to communicate offers of compensation will not be an option, but commission rates will continue to be negotiable.

Cessna Barrett has been passionate about real estate her entire life. As a child, she would tour open houses and "new builds” on the weekends with her mom. As an adult, Ms. Barrett loves getting a sense for every home and community she visits – she recognizes that each person and property has a story to tell. “Having been transplanted to the valley in 1975, I have an intimate knowledge of the wine country area and a strong desire to make my home your home.”
 
As a Napa Valley native, Ms. Barrett understands wine country real estate and the intricacies involved. Her extensive knowledge of the Sonoma and Napa Valley markets afford her the ability to guide both Buyers and Sellers to achieve optimal return on their investments. “I am accessible to my clients any time, anywhere,” she says. “No single transaction is ever as important as a relationship.” She has lived in Rutherford, St. Helena, Calistoga, Angwin, Pope Valley, Yountville, Napa and currently resides in Sonoma with her three children.
 
Ms. Barrett specializes in assisting Buyers and Sellers discover their forever home and establishing their roots. Ms. Barrett has built a reputation for her savvy negotiations, uncompromising integrity, and cutting-edge marketing strategies. Her insider knowledge and extensive background of working with clients both purchasing and selling homes began in 1998 at Pacific Union whereby she quickly gained distinction as one of Napa County’s youngest brokers at the age of 31.
 
Another career milestone includes six years as Owner/Managing Broker of Up Valley Real Estate in Saint Helena where Ms. Barrett managed 10 agents and all their transactions. Deciding to focus on raising her children, she merged Up Valley Real Estate with Sotheby’s International Realty in 2010. When the timing was right, Ms. Barrett rejoined Pacific Union which is now Compass and spent almost 15 years employed under their umbrella as a broker associate.
 
In February of 2024, Ms. Barrett relaunched Up Valley Real Estate, with her creation of a specifically designed role as a Broker Advisor Conseillere in complex and varied formats. Some of her specialities include real estate contract law, creating interior and exterior design renovations and implementation, compelling listing marketing branding, property estate management and planning, expert and savvy negotiations and strategies for her clients and most importantly, her uncompromising integrity and ability to keep all parties involved in the transaction on course - harmoniously and professionally.
